Despite being just half a mile from where I live, I had never known of this little side street cobbler’s shop until shooting this Lockdown series.

The light inside shop caught my eye, and as I moved to the window to look inside, I saw the old Singer sewing machine, exactly like the one my mother had used when I was growing up.

Hers had been converted to electric with a direct mounted motor, rather than the belt system you see here.

The green wallpaper and warm, rich tones behind the glass evoked something of how I imagine Victorian shops may have looked. Antiquity.
